This manuscript bears close reading. At first glance it would appear that Plavix® would be beneficial in that the thrombosis rate with Plavix was reduced from 19.5% to 12.2%. However failure of the fistulas to mature sufficiently for dialysis was the same for treated and untreated fistulas suggesting that Plavix prevented some unusable fistulas from thrombosing. In fact, therefore, Plavix® did not offer any clinical improvement.
