Deepak G. Nair, MD, MS, MHA, RVT Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery (Vascular) Florida State University Medical School attended the prestigious Bronx High School of Science and then graduated magna cum laude from City College, New York. He received his medical education at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse New York where he was a member of the AOA honors society.

Despite the grueling workload of his surgical residency at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Nair was still able to study for and graduate with a Masters in Health Care Administration as well as a Masters of Science in Clinical Research. Subsequently he has completed a two-year fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta.

He has authored six peer-reviewed articles and has been the primary author of three textbook chapters related to peripheral and cerebrovascular surgery. He has presented his research at prestigious scientific meetings in the United States and Europe. Dr. Nair is also on the American College of Surgeons Advisory Council on Vascular Surgery and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery (Vascular) for Florida State University Medical School.

Dr. Nair’s clinical skills include all aspects of open arterial and venous vascular surgery as well as diagnostic arteriography, balloon angioplasty, stents and thrombolysis. He brings to Sarasota special experience in endovascular minimally invasive treatment of thoracic aneurysms and dissections, and performed the first thoracic stent graft in the area.

Dr. Nair is married to Alka Nair, an internist with special interest in women’s health. They have one child.
